Surgery

Certain surgical procedures are provided by us to insure that your pet will lead a long healthy life. Most of these surgical procedures utilize the use of general anesthesia and intramuscular relaxants, which help to provide a sleep like state during a procedure.

Before any surgical procedure is performed each kitty should have presurgical blood work done to check organ function and a thorough physical exam. This helps to determine if there are any underlying conditions that should be addressed before anesthesia and surgery.

When a surgery is scheduled, you will receive a confirmation call from us the night before surgery, along with a reminder to take the food away at 8:00pm. Water may be provided overnight, but not breakfast since a full stomach could cause vomiting and potential serious complications during the surgery. Our normal patient admissions are between 7:30am & 8:00am, but at no additional charge to you and for your convenience you may admit them the night before. We will re-confirm your cat’s procedure and estimate at the time of admission, and have you sign all authorization papers needed.
