Tiger

August 2011

Rescuing him was the only option

At least that’s the way I saw it.  He was found outside a home where the family had moved away.  Hungry, underweight and in need of some TLC.  His gorgeous mane, stripes and large stature meant “Tiger” to me.

A typical Tiger day:  Jump on bugs that are outside the screen…follow my people from room to room...play with toys...sleep…look out window…opps, stuck in the mini-blind…jump in an empty lap…sleep…kneed, kneed, kneed...hide in box (small ones are best)…bat my toy mice around...sprawl in the middle of the room.

Tiger has struggled with some health problems in the past couple years.  He is heartworm positive and takes medication every other day.  Every six months he has a blood test to find out if the antibodies are gone, but so far Tiger has not beat it.  You would never know he has some health problems though…he is active, alert, and just as pleasant as ever.  I am thankful that the steroids help to keep him stable and hopefully someday he won’t have to take them anymore.  We have even found a new “Greenie” pill pocket that works wonders for taking his medication!!!  That makes me and him very happy!

Tiger has been such a wonderful addition to my life!  He welcomes me at the door when I come home and gives me lots of reasons to smile.  He is such a good boy, a delight to be around.  I need him, just as much as he needs me.  I am lucky to have such a handsome & loveable cat!
