Electrocardiograms

When you come to the Kentwood Cat Clinic or the Cat Clinic North, an important part of our physical exam is listening to the heart for any abnormalities. When an abnormality is detected, one of the tests that we recommend is called an electrocardiogram (ECG). This particular test detects the electrical impulses of the heart and helps to determine if there is a normal or abnormal cardiac rhythm present. An ECG helps the doctor to determine where the abnormality may have originated and whether it is a serious one that needs to be treated aggressively, or if it is just a minor one that needs to be monitored. If a serious condition is detected, we may suggest further tests to help determine the best way to treat your pet.
